Judd Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted today at 1 p.m., in the Second-Eighth ward chapel, for John Ashworth Judd, 76, a resident of Springville for the past 10 years, who died Sunday at the Utah Valley Hospital. Bishop Melvin Hanks of the Eighth ward, will be in charge. Friends may call at the Claudin Funeral Home today before the services. Burial will be in the City Cemetery. Mr. Judd was born April 7, 1883, in St. George, a son of Thomas and Mary Jane Ashworth Ash-worth Judd. He moved here from LaVerkin. He was educated in St. George, Branch Agricultural College at Cedar City, Utah State Agricultural College and (Continued on Page 2, Col. 4) Funeral Services Today For John A. Judd (Continued from Page One.) BYU. He served a two-year LDS mission in California from 1907-09. He married Susan Camilla Woodbury Sept. 5, 1910 in the St. George Temple. He and his wife filled a five-year five-year LDS mission at the St. George Temple as officiating ordinance workers. He was a high priest. He was secretary-treasurer of Canal Co. in LaVerkin, and LaVerkin Sanitorium. He also operated a theater in Hurricane Hurri-cane for a number of years! He was assistant to his father, fath-er, who was president of the Utah Horticultural Society and they displayed fruits and nuts at exhibits in San Diego, Albuquerque, Albu-querque, Sacramento and various var-ious other places. Mr. Judd and his wife have lived in Utah all their lives except ex-cept for five years when they were called to colonize Lund, Nevada. Surviving are his widow; two sons, Dr. Clair W. Judd of Springville and Dr. Thomas R. Judd of Spanish Fork; one daughter, Mrs. Grant (Ruth) Excell of Ogden; one brother, James Judd of LaVerkin; two sisters, Mrs. Wilford (Kate) Thompson of LaVerkin and Mrs. Ella Lund of St. George and 11 grandchildren. |
