Show Revamped Club Set for Orem Contest Friday Coach Alma Garrett has reshuffled re-shuffled his winless Red Devil squad since their last game, and only two seniors are now left on the squad. Reason for this is obvious and with the Devils completely out of the title picture, their hopes can only run in the "building for next year" vein. Friday, the Red Devils will travel to Orem, after having played the Provo Bulldogs last night in the first game of the second half. Spanish Fork. Provo, and Orem all ended in a tie for first half honors. Devils Lose Any semblance to a fighting Red Devil team of 1958, in comparison to that of 1959, would be strictly -coincidental after watching the Red Devils blow a 12 point lead and then end up in their own pot, boiling boil-ing from a 66-57 "teething" from the Payson Lions following follow-ing Thurs. battle. Not that the Red Devils lacked the fighting spirit, but rather the defensive tactics were woefully weak and on more than one occasion, the slippery Lions slithered thru the Devil defense for easy lay-ups lay-ups and in the most crucial moments of the final half of the last quarter. The game was a thriller spectator-wise until the last '5 minutes when even all hell seemed to go against the Devils Dev-ils and the Lions marched through triumphantly after-being after-being behind 44-46 at the end of the third quarter. Bill Decker, a first-time starter for the -Devils, looked particularly promising and scored 16 counters. His defensive defen-sive work was a bit shaky in spots, but his under-the-bas-ket play was more effective than any previous Red Devi) performer. Nelson was top man with 17 and kept the elusive elu-sive sphere under control better bet-ter than in their previous games. Bryan came in for an able assist with 14 points. Payson's superior shooting from back court, plus their out-rustling the Devils, gave them the contest. The Red Devil Jayvees lost their fifth contest by a wide margin. Unless play improves in the second half, it looks as if the Devils will be- in for two bad seasons this year and next.
