In plain simple words: "GROW UP." Quit be-ing a crybaby; get out of your dream world; develop a back-bone, not a wishbone; and start acting like a man or a lady. I'm a parent. I'm tired of nursing, protecting, helping, appealing, begging, excusing, tolerating, denying myself the needed comforts for your every whim and fancy, just because your selfish ego instead of com-mon sense dominates your per-sonality and thinking and re-quests. From a Parent Always we hear the plaintive cry of the teen-ager- s: What can we do? Where can we go? I can ake some suggestions. GO HOME! Help hang the screens, paint the woodwork. Rake the leaves. Mow the lawn. Clean the walk. Wash the car. Learn to cook. Scrub some floors. Repair the sink. Build a boat. Get a job. Help in church, the Red Cross, the Drives. Visit the sick. Assist the poor. Cox, son of Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Cox of Mapleton, has been designated as base airman of the month, according to word received by his parents. As-signed to Donaldson Air Force Base, South Carolina since July 1958, he has ser-ved as an engine mechanic and according to the quali-fications on which he was recommended for the honor, has done most outsdanding work. His superior officers stated that he is neat, con-scientious, efficient and has a fine military bearing; that he has the potential to be-come a fine NCO and is pre-sently assigned duties a s Engine Chief in his dock, a job normally associated with higher ranking airman. Notes on Safety What shape is your car in? If it's not in tip-to- p condi-tion, you're flirting with to the National Safety Council. "A lot of cars on the road today," it said, "need repairs to be safe for driving." In support of its claim, the Council offered this informa-tion: Seven states and the Dis-trict of Colombia reported in the Council's annual Inventory of Traffic Safety Activities that almost 45 per cent of all vehicles inspected were reject-ed for mechanical defects. Further, if the more than eight million vehicles inspect-ed in 10 states and the District of Colombia,l,722,400 1 out of 5 had substandard brakes, the Council said. Nearly as many cars 1,649,-50- 0 had defective rear lights. Substandard headlights w er e the third most frequent vio-lation noted. Exhust and feul systems were faulty in about 1 out of 7 cars inspected. U.N. atomic agency leader criticizes pacts. ' WEEKLY jlJIlp A Service Of The Thor Research Center For Better Farm Living Several readers have sent in questions about farm shop specifi-cations and equipment. QUESTION: What do you con-sider a good size for a farm shop building? ANSWER: When constructing a special building for your shop, we suggest you make it at least 30x3C feet and design it in such a way that it can be lengthened at a latei date if needs require. Include space for tools, benches, building materials, heating unit, and foi safe working on farm equipment. Make the door at least IS ieel wide and 10 feet high so tractors and other equipment can be driver inside. Sturdy tubular frame is also car-rying handle for this generator. QUESTION: I'm planning to get a portable electric generator for my farm and am wondering what size to buy. What do you suggest? ANSWER. A good size gener-ator for the average farm has a capacity of 5 kilowatts, supplies 115 volts of direct current. Things to look for: Carrying handle for easy moving, full shock-mountin- g with direct connected coupling, heavy-dut- y rewind starter, two three-pronge- d receptacles, also accommodating standard two-pron-plugs. Buy your portable electric generator with an eye to-ward using it for pow-ering of portable electric tools around the farm, as well as for emergency power. QUESTION: I'm rewiring my workshop. What spacing would you recommend for the light out-lets? My shop is 26x32. ANSWER: Figurt a ceiling light every 200 square feet, to eliminate shadows over wide areas where you may be working on equipment parked in the shop. Over the work benches there should be lighting outlets every 8 to 10 feet to pro-vide brighter illumination in these close-wor- k areas. You should have 115-vo- lt service to accommodate any electric power tools you may want to use. i Legal Notices Probate and Guardianship Notices Consult County Cleric or th Respective Signers for Further Information Notice to Creditors Estate of Melvin S.
