Show ing. Clea Kennedy was naratoi who introduced the floor show with three dance groups participating. par-ticipating. The "Salty Dog Rag" was presented by the Bee Hive Girls and Boy Scouts; "The Vasuvianne" was presented presen-ted by the Explorer Group and MIA Maids; a vocal duet was sung by Lora Bennett and Ar-beth Ar-beth Dalton; "The Swing Dance" was presented by ward dance directors Mr. and Mrs. Duane Rowberry. Dancing concluded con-cluded the evening and light refreshments were served. The Mapleton Jaycees held their annual Sweetheart Banquet Ban-quet last Saturday night at Melody Inn in Springville. Binlcs Phono HUnter 9-5875 Mr. and Mrs. Omar Moore of Orem were Sunday guests at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. i John Young. A banquet was held in the Mapleton Ward for scouts, scouters and their parents with Glen Martin acting as master of ceremonies. The opening prayer was given by Bob Lar-sen; Lar-sen; Bruce Palmer played two accordian solos; community singing was led by Ken West-jf West-jf wood; several skits were presented pre-sented by the scout and ex-I ex-I plorer groups; Roy Whitehead I of Spanish Fork was the guest speaker; .the colors were posted )f ; by Terry Williams, Rex Gull, is; Scott Dodson and Mrs. Rowena lesj Palmer was presented with a at gift for her outstanding work with the Guide class. Awards were presented to Gary Ellis, Mike Taylor, Harold Carter and Eric Walker. The banquet was planned and served by members of the scout committee and the scout masters and their wives. On the scout committee are Elmer Larsen, Blain Williams, Guy Nielson, Arland Cloward and Buss Williams. LaVaughan Bushman, chairman. Scout masters are John Young, Ken Westwood, Glen Martin, Rowena Ro-wena Palmer. The MIA of the Mapleton ward sponsored their annual Gold, and Green Ball Tuesday evening with superintendent Ray Whiting in charge. A floor show of dances was presented pre-sented by the first and second year Bee Hive Girls and Boy Scouts who presented a round dance; a square dance was presented pre-sented by a mixed group and a prize waltz was presented by the Special Interest class. Valentine Val-entine motifs were used for decorations. Dancing and refreshments re-freshments were also enjoyed. A Valentine theme was used for decorations for the Gold and Green Ball in the Mapleton Maple-ton Second ward Monday evening even-ing which was sponsored by the MIA with superintendences superintenden-ces and presidencies supervis- pieces with streamers leading to each place card. Perfume and carnations were presented to the wives who were honored guests. President Niel Stiener introduced Paul Jensen as master mas-ter of ceremonies. State vice president Jack Redford of Orem was the guest speaker. Musical numbers were given by Rex Jensen who sang to his own guitar accompaniment. Two new members, Robert Daley Da-ley and Alfred Stringer were presented with pins. Planning the party was color captain Paul- Schwartz who was assisted assis-ted by Neno Antineno, Fred Medvid, Earl Freeman, Joseph Carnesecca and their wives. Mr. and Mrs. Willis. Harmer were hosts to a group of relatives rela-tives at their home Saturday night at a supper party. Cov-vers Cov-vers were laid for Bishop Lewis Le-wis J. Harmer and his wife of Pleasant Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Mackley and their daughter Veneta of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Ennis Woffinden and family of Benjamin, and a grand daughter Marcia Clegg, who has been staying at the Harmer home while her parents par-ents are away to California on business. Glen Martin, who was superintendent, superin-tendent, Ken Westwood, first counselor and Clipp Taylor, second counselor. Mrs. Lora Bird was hostess to the members of the Needle Craft Club at her home Thursday. Thurs-day. A delicious hot lunch was served at noon by Martha Whiting, Eva Bird, Harriet Nielson and Lora Bird, to nineteen nine-teen guests. A beautiful ap-pliqued ap-pliqued quilt was made. There's a new baby girl at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hjorth born at the Pay-son Pay-son Hospital Wednesday of last week. This makes six girls for Hjorths and four boys. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sayer are the proud parents of a new baby boy born last week. The new baby has one brother and one sister. Mr. A. P. Astel entered the hospital for surgery last week. The YMMIA of the Mapleton Maple-ton ward has been reorganized reorgani-zed with Ray Whiting selected as superintendent who has chosen cho-sen Ralph Harmer as his first counselor and Dan Taylor as second counselor.
