That the expenses of the street car company have increased about 80 per cent since 1914, while' there has been only a small increase in the revenues of the road, were some of the reasons given by Royal Eccles, secretary of the Utah-Idaho Central Railroad company, com-pany, in his talk to the members of the Rotary club at luncheon today, as to why the company could not afford to pave between be-tween its tracks on North and South Washington avenues this year. Mr. Eccles told of the Increase of the expenses of the road in increased salaries sal-aries to employees, the upkeep of equipment equip-ment and trades, insurance rates, power and incidentals. He said the receipts had made but very little increase during the same period. |
