Show EGGS BEFORE ROADS. The people of the country contiguous to Cottage Grove, Oi-, give notice to the world that, in their opiinon, ''aigs is aigs,''' and entitled to first consideration. consid-eration. All activities which threaten to disturb biddy in her laudablo ambition ambi-tion to do her duty uiust be suspended until the queen of the nest may be pleased to let them proceod. As a result of this view, road work will be performed only tit such seasons as the hen deems proper. . The county court, within whoso province it is to direct di-rect highway construction, has ordered that the building of a certain stretch of road shall be begun soon after the new year and that it must be completed com-pleted before the spring eggs are set. This order is prompted by tho fact that one of the largest poultry establishments establish-ments in the country is situated near the projected line of the proposed road. It was shown to the satisfaction of the court that heavy blasting in the vicinity of places where eggs havo been set for hatching destroys them and for that reason the road builders must wait upon tlie convenience of the hard-working hen. Tho region round about Cottage Grove is a heavy producer of poultry. Tho industry brings fortunes every year to the people, and naturally they do not want their chief source of revenue rev-enue imperiled by a gang of powder men. We have no hesitation in saying that tho judge who has fixed the limits of road construction in this instance is a level-headed jurist and entitled to the respect of his neighbors and to their support next election day. |
