Show 101 FALLS PEOPLE IIIGMOJEGT Enthusiastic Meeting Held in Support of Reclamation Reclama-tion Association. Special to The Tribune. IDAHO FALLS, Idaho", June 12. An enthusiastic meeting was held in the courthouse In the interest of the Dubois reclamation project and was largely attended. at-tended. An address was made by Major Fred R. Reed, who stated the purposes of the organization or-ganization known as the Idaho Reclama tion association, of which he is the managing man-aging secretary. Major Reed's slogan is "Work together, stick together, win together to-gether for Idaho. Let's go!" In Mr. Reed's talk he stated that In the Dubois Du-bois project there was more than a million mil-lion and a quarter acres of land that could be irrigated. He added that the Snake river carried waste waters past this land every year considerably more than sufficient to water the vast area. What is needed, he said, is the storage and impounding of the water. At tho present time the association is much interested In the Lane bill now before be-fore congress, and the association has Bent Governor Davis, former Governor Gooding and one or two others to Washington Wash-ington to assist in the passage of the bill. If the bill is passed, it will be the work of the association to get a suitable appropriation to finance the project. Others who spoke at the meeting were F,. M. Kennedy. Dr. C. H. Shattuck of the United States geological, survey and Byrd Trego, all of whom were enthusiastic enthusi-astic regarding the wonderful possibilities possibili-ties of the project. The meeting was called by the Idaho Falls and Bonneville County Commercial club, and was presided over by Secretary Secre-tary O. A. Johhanneson, who also is the county secretary of the Reclamation association. |
