Tho organization of the t'tah district of the Rocky mount a in division of the Society For the Friendless, has been perfected per-fected in Salt Lake. The departments are: Jail and prison visitation, proba tion and parole ; reiief and first aid; public Information Infor-mation and prison reform, with provision for women to nlso work alont? these lines. The aim of the society is to help every worthy prisoner by encouragement during dur-ing the period of his sentence. It will have charge of him whPe- on parole, and will endeavor to re-establish him in society so-ciety after his dischargo. It a so w?ll work for the prevention of crime by arousing parents and teachers to their duties toward the youth of the district. It will co-operate with all beneficent an 1 educational organizations for the guidance guid-ance of the young men and women, and will endeavor to secure improved laws and penal institutions. The Rocky mountain division embraces Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. - The Rev. John Pf firson Is superintendent of the work, with temporary headquarters at ; 819 Eighteenth str.-et. Cheyenne, Wyo. Later, it is believed, permanent offices will be opened in Salt Lake. The following citizens comprise the board of directors: Frederick C. Loofbourow. president; Ralph E. Bristol, Ogden, first vi.-e president; presi-dent; C. S. Varian. second vice president and treasurer; Mr. Pearson.
