S. news photo agencies propagandized war pictures to mold American sentiment. Above: This photo teas passed by A'asi censors and purports to show "minority German hostages murdered by Poles in Uromberg before retreat" Another German photo shows Nazi sympathizers greeting a unit of the German army as it moved into a Polish town. Did the Poles greet their captors so unanimously? Chivalry stirs emotion, and is an effective weapon. Berlin made much of the "military funcraF' given French aviators shot doun behind the lines.
