Show COMPLETION OF CHANNEL NEARS According to Claude Tibbie, foreman in charge of the Freeman Free-man drainage channel project, the work is now three-fourths complete. Although 400 of the 500 foot channel is now finished, the most difficult work remains: driving the channel under Main street and the removal of several sewer lines. The channel should be finished within the next 30 days, Mr. Tibbie Tib-bie says. At the present time there are 21 WPA laborers assigned as-signed to the project, which has been delayed the past month because be-cause of a small crew. Designed to carry the run-off water in upper Freeman, prior to the construction of this new concrete channel the water ran down an old wooden flume underneath under-neath houses. Heavy rains clogged clog-ged the flume and on several occasions caused considerable property pro-perty damage. The Freeman drainage channel is a part of a $9040.30 WPA project. pro-ject. The flume and road repairs in the city will cost local taxpayers tax-payers $3,449.30. |
