Show 'QUIET ELECTION I SEENFOR CITY j Bingham Canyon's first election elect-ion as a third class city and its second uncontested election will be held Tuesday, November 7. Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the No. 1 and No. 2 Fire halls. In 1S125 the Citizen's ticket headed by Dr. F. K. Straup, candidate can-didate for mayor, had no opposition. oppo-sition. Seeking reelection on the Nonpartisan Non-partisan ticket are present city officials, led by Mayor Ed Johnson. John-son. The petition of nomination filed Saturday with the city recorder re-corder lists the following candidates candi-dates for the offices listed. Mr. Johnson, mayor; Art J. Sorenson, four-year councilman; C. A. Morley, Al J. Ablett, Dale Johnston and Francis J. Quinn, Councilmen; Eugene Morris, recorder; re-corder; Alvin Hall, treasurer. State laws require that cities hold biennial elections, even though there is no contest. The city ordinance states that petitions peti-tions of nomination must be filed not more than 40 days and not less than 30 days before election. As it is less than 30 days to November No-vember 7, no opposing ticket can be filed at this late date and Nonpartisan Non-partisan candidates are virtual- ly certain of election. |
