Disagreements Disagree-ments between the managements of the Anaconda Standard, the Butte Miner and the Butte Daily Post, and their printers have led to a situation that has caused a suspension of publication by the Anaconda Ana-conda Sta ndard and which, in all probability, prob-ability, will cause like action by the two other publications named tomorrow. The eon true ts between these publications publica-tions and their compositors have expired, and in view of the failure of the men and employers to arrive at a satisfactory satisfac-tory adjustment as to wages and hours, the majority of all the employees in the composing rooms of the three papers mentioned have indicated their intention to reave their jobs. This has already taken place on the Anaconda Standard, where, of twenty-seven twenty-seven men employed, twenty-three quit. On the Butte Miner all hands have quit except one man1 and three women. The exact situation as to the Post will not bo known until tomorrow. In all eases the men arc 'acting as individuals, in-dividuals, no strike having been declared de-clared by eithon the A naconda or the Butte union. This plan of action was decided on to a-void violation of international interna-tional union regulations, w hich. require submission of any such- controversy to arbitration. The demands of the men j having been rejected -by the publishers, I who proposed to submit the matter to ar-j ar-j bitration, the men elected to abandon their places rather' than await the result re-sult of such action. |
