Leaving that road in 1SS1, lie came dl- ! j rect to Idaho and entered the service of ; the Oregon Short Line as operator at ' ; Soda .Springs. J (e had been with the Short Line continuously since that time, : 1 moving upward notch by notch until he was made superintendent of the Utah; division with headquarters in Salt Lake, lie was later transferred to the Montana1 division with headqiui rters in Pocatello, ' arid for the past few years had held the posit ion of superintendent of the Idaho , division, one of the most important posts i in the service. i Mr. Stevenson took much interest in I public affairs. lie was a Republican in politics and he served as state senator : from Bannock county in the seventh session ses-sion of the legislature, under appointment appoint-ment of Governor B. Heyburn. In July, lyo.i, Mr. Stevenson married j Mrs. Jennie Dolly Uhland in this city, ; by whom he is survived, together with . one son, Edward Manson Stevenson, and ' two stepsons, Frank A. Uhland, an em- i ployee of tho Short Line, and Thomas H. Uhland, employed by the Motor Mercantile Mercan-tile company of Salt Lake. Funeral services will be held in St. Joseph's procathedral, Friday morning j at 0 o'clock, and interment will be in j Mountain View cemetery. I |
