Show DRY LAW RESOLUTION DISCUSSION DEFERRED WASHINGTON, Dec. 9. Tho house agriculture commltteo deferred indefinitely indefi-nitely today further consideration of various va-rious resolutions proposing repeal of tho war-time prohibition act. after hearing Representative Ralney, Democrat. Illinois, who declared that ?500,uOO.OuO in direct tajies would be paid to the government next month if the act were repealed. "Such a repeal would fit in well with a program of economy," he said. In postponing further consideration of the repeal resolutions the" committee did not discuss Its program, Chairman Hau-gen, Hau-gen, Republican, Iowa, merely stating at tne conclusion of Representative Ralney's argument that they would be "deferred." The committee has before it the agricultural agri-cultural appropriation upon which it is proposed to begin work at once, and no plans for further hearings of the repeal proposals were discussed, although this was not regarded as a definite decision to shelve the resolutions. |
