Show Trans-Pacific ! Flight Easy, Aviator Says : X J AXCOUVZK. B. C. Sept. 17. Plans for a trans-Pacific flight I from America to Australia were an-I an-I ncunced here today by Captain Eric Donaldson, an Australian aviator, j who arrived hero yesterday on a ! trans-Pacific steamship. ! Captain Donaldson intends to hop off from San Francisco and fly via the Hawaiian islands, thence to an 1 island in the South Pacific archi- pelago and from there to Australia. ' A Sopwith two-seater of the type used by Harry Hawier in the trans-Atlantic trans-Atlantic flight is the plane chosen by Captain Donaldson for the trip. The machine, Captain Donaldson says, is now on its way to America from England and will be housed in an airdrome he contemplates constructing con-structing near San Francisco. The flight, the aviator declares, will be attempted as socn as a navigator has been chosen and the necessary preparations prep-arations have teen completed. Cap-tain Cap-tain Donaldson believes the flight vriil be easily made with a good engine en-gine and proper weather conditions. I z |
