Show Christmas Tree for Children at Elks Club Is Oiie of the Features. Special to The Tribune. POCATELLO, Idaho, Dec. 25. Christmas Christ-mas in Pocatello passed off in a quiet, joyous manner. Numerous public gatherings, gath-erings, dances and parties were features of the day, as well as Christmas services at most of the churches and at some of the lodges. Last night near midnight brought to a close one of the busiest shopping periods in the history of the city. Chr stmas goods in all the leading stores of the city were literally cleaned out before the end, and business men declare that never be- I fore had they been taxed to the extent I of the past few dr.ys. One of the pleasing events today wa3 the appearance of Santa Claus at the Elks club, where hundreds of children gathered at i o'clock in the morning. A Christmas tree was erected and the chil- j dren were treated to candy and nuts, after which thoy were guests of the lodge at the Orpheum theater. Another event at the Flks ei nb was n dance tonight by the club members and their ladies. The machinists of the city enjoyed their annual ball at the McNichoIs & "Wright hall, and dances also were given at the other hails in the city by cluhs and so-ci so-ci eties. .Special Chri stmas services were conducted by the Knights Templar in the I morning. ! |
