Show TEilS CHIEFS TO 1 HOLD CM TODAY Much Interest in Report of Ranking Committee; Important Im-portant Matters Up. NEW YORK, Dec. U. The meeting of the executive committee of the United States Lawn Tennis association will be held here tomorrow. It promises, to be one of the most important in recent years, not only because of the number of matters which will be considered, but also because of their marked influence on the future of the game. The report of the ranking committee to be presented Abraham Bassferd. Jr., will claim general attention, as the list will include some of the ranking players ho have been nanu-d since K'ltj on account ac-count of the war. The committee, which Includes Walter T. Haves of Chicago, Harry C. Johnson of Boston, Paid "V. Oibbons of Philadelphia and Conrad B. Doyle of Washington, had a difficult task this season becuuse of the remarkable upsets that oecurrtd. Virtually all the ranking players suffered suf-fered defeats which, under the old svstem, would have made it extremely difficult to award them their proper places. With Lie present method of reducing performances perform-ances to a mathematical basis, however, the committee feels that it has been able to overcome these difficulties. Increased volume of competition this yc:ir added materially to the committee's labors, as about three times as many players had to be considered as were eligible for ranking rank-ing in lylS. Reports of committees on rules, ball, equalization of voting p-nver. revision of the constitution and other important matters mat-ters also will be made, but what action the executive committee will take on these will not be announced for some time to come. |
