Show ITDfi VEHICLE BILL Elaborate Classification of Commercial Trucks for License Is Feature. The new motor vehicle law, bouse bill Xo. 1-9, which passed both bouses of the legislature, was signed by Governor lAmberger. Many new features are presented pre-sented in the measure, the most important impor-tant of which is an elaborated classification classifi-cation of commercial trucks for license fees, according to carrying capacity and kind of tires used. The previous law of 1917 carried a tax of $10 for all commercial commer-cial trucks. Thu tax on passenger automobiles auto-mobiles is essentially the same as that of the previous law. The law passed yesterday contains the following' registration fees for all cushion-tired cushion-tired motor trucks: One ton or less, 510; two tons or less, $15; between two and three tons, $22. 5U; between three and four tons. $30; between be-tween four and 'ive tons. $37.50; between five and six tons. $45; between six and seven tons, 552.50; between seven and eight tons, $60; between eight and nine tuns, $!7.50; between nine and ten tons, $75. The bill makes it unlawful to load more than 20,000 pounds on any truck and trailer on any road in the state. House bill No. 12L provides a sliding scale of taxation for motor vehicles, according ac-cording to the kind of tires used. If pnuematic tires are used, two-thirds of the above rates will be collected, while in the case of metal tires a charge of 1U0 per cent additional will be made. Motorcycles are taxed $3; the remaining remain-ing pleasure car rates are: Vehicles not exceeding 25 -horsepower, $5; between 25-horsepower 25-horsepower and 40 -horsepower, 5)5; all steam cars, $10; all electric cars, S10. |
