Situation Bad in Several Towns, but General Condition Better, Says Official; Help Needed. I , One hundred and forty-seven new cases of Spanish influenza were reported to the city board of health yesterday, an inerfcee of sixty-seven cases over the TaSrevIous day. BRIGHAM CITY IN SERIOUS CONDITION. Dr. T. B. Beatly went to Tremonton yesterday and from that city investi-i investi-i satod tho situation in the surrounding towns. Ho reported the most serious situation to exist at Brigham City. There are four doctors in tho town and each one Is seriously ill with Influenza. , Curses are lacking and a large number ot Influenza cases exist. In Tremonton the situation has improved. Cokovllle, Wyo., has notified Utah that tho town Is under a strict quarantine in , an effort to keep the disease from becom-i becom-i J"B epidomle In that town. P- Morton of the Salvation H 'Army announced last night that the army is in urgent need of clothing for victims 'L of influenza. According to Major Morton Mor-ton he has discovered entire families t without a change of clothing. Warm un-derclothes un-derclothes for men, women and children 3 are needed urgently, but all kinds of clothes are required. Major Morton found a family of four last night all lying help- fcj less with Influenza. Warm clothing was needed for every member of the family. ' Many in Misery. The cc weather is said to have ac-' ac-' centuate the misery of many pneumonia victims. In several cases patients have been found lying helpless, with the cover- -, ng fallen from the beds and the patients too weak to put it hack. Clothing may be brought to 19 Orpheum avenue. If it is impossible to bring it to the Salvation Army rooms, a telephone message to J Wasatch 21S7 will notify the workers and they will call for It at any address. If those who have clothing to spare .j would prefer to give the clothing personally per-sonally to needy families, the addresses if! nf manv cases will be supplied, according accord-ing to Major Morton. The first presidency of the Latter-day e Saints has requested the presidents of Btakes and bishops of wards to stimulate : the church members In aiding the Red Cross in every manner possible.
