Show THREE UTAH GIRLS TO BECOME NURSES Members of Volunteer Corps Are Ordered to American Lake. Miss Mary Young a.nd Miss Ilwlen M. Cannon of Salt Luke and Miss Ruby Nae-gle Nae-gle of "Washington county are the three first Utah girls, to be railed for active service as members of the volunteer student stu-dent nurses' corps. These young women will leave at once for duty at Camp Lewis, American Lake. Wash. They were among the. first young women to enlist in the student nurse corps some time ago when there was a drive conducted here for the purpose of securing volunteers to become student nurses in the hospitals of the army camps throughout the country, The government wii pay the expense of transportation and of outfitting these volunteer student nurses when they are ordered into active service with the military mili-tary forces. Miss Young, who is one of those called to duty at Camp Lewis, is , the daughter of Brigadier General R. V. Young, now in France and formerly colonel of the 145th field artillery (First Utah). Miss Naegle Is a school teacher and gave up a position teaching to volunteer her services ser-vices as a student nurse. Miss Cannon is a well known Salt Lake girl. |
