Show LEASE TAKEN ON MONARCH MINES Two Caves Encountered at Bay State; Work Resumed Re-sumed at Flat. Special to Tlie Tribune. AMERICAN FORK, April 27. The directors of the Monarch Mines company com-pany have recently completed a deal whereby they arc giving a bond and lease on their property on Lakeside mountain, just west of Great bait lake, to S. P. Neve and associates of Salt Lake City. The bond and lease is for $100,000. The parties leasing the property expect to begin active work within the next ten days. They will start in with a force of about six or eight miners, which will be increased as the work progresses. According to the report of Superintendent Parsons, there is in the neighborhood of 200,000 tons of a splendid grade of mill ore already al-ready developed, and with but very little work this tonnage can be greatly increased. It is undoubtedly one of the largest mill propositions in the state and would have been taken over by the United States Smelting & He-fining He-fining company had it not been for the present war conditions. The people peo-ple who have secured the lease on this valuable property are well known and successful mining men, and will undoubtedly un-doubtedly have it on a paying basis within a short time. Work at the Bay State is progressing progress-ing in a very satisfactory manner. Word was received from Superintendent Superinten-dent Tyler Wednesday that the miners had broken into two caves about two feet wide and six feet long in the winze that is being sunk from the lower tunnel tun-nel level. The caves were filled with ore-bearing limo and iron carbonates, and have every appearance of being in the vicinity of an ore body. Mr. Tyler wae . very much encouraged over the outlook and stated that he expected to have some exceptionally good reports to make within the next few days. A force of miners went up the canyon can-yon Monday morning and began work at the Mineral Flat. This is preliminary prelim-inary to' the extensive development work that is nlanned for this nron- orty during the season. The correct lead to the known ore deposits in this property was encountered late in the winter, when work had to be suspended suspend-ed on account of the heavy snows. The power plaut was damaged by slides and tho work this party will do is to get things in shape so a vigorous campaign cam-paign may be started in the near future. |
