Show MUNCY CREEK SHIPS CARLOAD OF $100 ORE Shipment Carries Values of 20.37 Copper and 18.6 Ounces of Silver. The Muncy Creek Mining company, operating in the vicinity of Cherry Creek, Nev., began its 1913 shipping activities bv sending forty tons of $100 ore to the Garfield smelter. Settlement on the initial shipment of the year was received yesterday by the management and showed the car to carry values averaging 20.37 per cent copper and 18.6 ounces silver to the ton. The Muney Creek sent four trial shipments to the smelter late last fall and then began a vigorous campaign of development. A new road was built, which reduced the hauling distance from 49 to 25 miles, and some new machinery machin-ery was installed. Bad roads and storms during the winter prohibited shipments, and work was further delayed de-layed by the breaking of the hoist. A new hoist has been installed and is now in working order, but mining operations are being laid up temporarily while a big accumulation of ore broken when the hoist was out of commission is moved to the surface. Two trucks are engaged in hauling to the railroad aud it is expected that from one to three cars will be sent to the smelter each week during the summer. The character of the ore is indicated by the smelter settlement. There also is a considerable accumulation of lower grade ore, which is being, held with a view to handling it by milling, if the accumulation or future developments justify the construction of a plant. The company now employs a good force at the mine, but more men are to be sent out as fast as available, with a view to maintaining a big and steady production while metal prices are good. |
