Show LUCISM COPPER TO BE6INSHIPPIHG Good Ore Opened in Tunnel; Tun-nel; Tramway and Road to Be Built. An interesting report concerning the outlook and activities at the property of the Lucin Copper Mining & Milling company was brought in yesterday by Roger W. Powers, one of the heavy stockholders, on his return from an inspection in-spection of the mine. The property is situated about ten miles southwest of Lucin station on the north side of Copper Cop-per Mountain and. near the old Copper Mountain mine, which yielded big returns re-turns in the early days of the district. The Lucin Copper has put down a number of holes to test out the vein system sys-tem and is now running a long tunnel to cut the proven ore bodies at depth. One shaft was put down about eighty feet, another about forty feet and au incline about 100 feet, and some good lead-silver ore was encountered in each. The main working tunnel is now in about 200 feet and has penetrated a big body of ore, from which it is planned to make shipments right, away. About thirty-five tons have been accumulated ac-cumulated and hauling is to be begun as soon as teams are available. The chief values are lead and silver, with some gold, but the indications are that copper will be encountered when more depth is attained. A test shipment of about seven tons was made from the property last fall which yielded $61 a ton at the smelter. In the present working assays have yielded values all the way from $.40 to $150 a ton and it is expected that the ore now being taken out will yield better bet-ter than $50 a ton at the smelter. The tunnel face is all in ore and the limits lim-its of the .body have not yet been determined. de-termined. In view of the promising prospects the company is now preparing to construct con-struct a permanent camp and to install in-stall new equipment which will facilitate facili-tate operations. The new camp is to be established at a point where it is believed an ample supply of water can be developed. Included in the new equipment planned is a 2000-foot tramway. tram-way. A short piece of road is to be built which will reduce the hauling distance dis-tance to the railroad from ten to approximately ap-proximately five miles. It is planned by the management to prosecute development of the property and at the same time attempt to keep ore moving to the smelter regularly. |
