Show UTE OIL TO USE WALLACE PROCESS Will Be Part of the Plant to Be Erected . at Watson, Utah, by a St. Louis Firm. A new process for the distillation of oil f som' shale, known as the Wallace process, is to be used by the Ute Oil company of Si. Louis in the plant which is to be erected near Watson, Utah, according ac-cording to word received yesterday by D. H. Gustaveson, consulting engineer for the Ute company. The information came in a lettej: from Hector McRae, managing director of the company. The company plans the erection of a plant with a daily capacity of 250 tons just as soon as the plans and specifications specifica-tions can be prepared and the necessary machinery and equipment can be obtained. ob-tained. Copies of the specifications and blue prints, of the proposed plant are expected to reach Mr. Gustaveso within the next few days. In his letter-Mr. Mc.Rae announced that he had witnessed highly satisfactory satisfac-tory demonstrations of the new process at the United States bureau of mines at Washington, D. C. In the tests 97 per cent of the oil content of the shales was extracted in . fifty minutes, as against eight hours required in the use of the Scotch process. The cost of the plant, according to the estimates, also is greatly in favor of the Wallace process. proc-ess.
