Article IS of the Constitution of th tate of Utah, relating to uniform taxes and exen-.p'.:ons. Be- it resolved by the Legislature of the Stnte of Utah, two-ihinis -11 the members elected to each house concurring therein ; Section 1. Th.it it is proposed to nmend Section S of Article XIII of the Constitution the S'.atf of Uiah so that the same will read as foiiowv; Section S. The Legislature shall provide by Iar a uniform and exjusl rat of assefsment and ta.ation on all property in the State, according ac-cording to its value in money, nnd shall proscribe pro-scribe by i:: :.er:il law sucii refiulaiions as shall secure a ju;t valuation for taxation of all property, so that every person and corporation corpora-tion sh;.!l pay a t;tx in proportion to the value of his, her or its property : Provided, that a deritic;ion of debits from credits may bm authorized : Provided further Tliat the property prop-erty of tiie I'nitod Stales, of the State, counties, coun-ties, ci ties, towns, school districts, municipal corporations and public libraries, lots with th buildings theroon used exclusively for either religious re-ligious worship or charitable purposes, and places of burial not held or used for private or corporate benefit, hall be exempt from taxation. tax-ation. Section 2. The Secretary of State is directed to cause this proposed amendment to b published pub-lished as required by the Constitution and to he subm itted to the electors of the State at the next general elction in the manner provided pro-vided by law.
