BRKJHAM CITY, rec. 10. rromotcrs from Ogden Tiave been in Brigham City for the past two weeks visiting among Llic influential citizens in an attempt! to secure subscriptions for stock in the Brigham City Natural Gas & Oil company, com-pany, which is bPing organized here for tlio purpose of drilling for natural gas and oil about two miles west of this city, 011 the lands owned by Kii'as Jensen. Jt 1b said that tho company has leased quite a number of acres of land where oil is "said to e:;ist and that contracts have been let for boring for the oil. Knthusiasm is hard to arouse among the old settlers here, however, owing to tlie fact that seveial attempts have been made in the past to secure a flow of oil from the wells in question, but with no results. However, there is oil there, and tho only obstaclo Is to find the main flow. A match lighted to these wells will burn at times for hours, nnd it has only been a few years iigo when Mr. Jensen used the oil from these wells to burn brick with. .Skating parties some years ago, when cold, would chop the ice and light the wells to warm by. There are many other evidences that natural gas and crude oil exist in th is neighborhood, but tho diseoveier of the main flow has as yet failed to get on the ground. Those who are promoting the proposi- 1 tion are K. M. North, Will S. White and I C. V. Faye of Ogden and Attorney B. C. ; Call of Brigham City, who is now drawing draw-ing up articles of incorporation. The company lias taken a lease on an office in the Klborta Theater building and within with-in a few days will be pYepared to commence com-mence business. An opportunity will be given local capitalists to subscribe to the stock, and it is said that local peopla will control the company.
