Show ' GOVERNOR OF IDAHO ; TAKES OUT POLICY First to Be Issued in Gem State "Under the Workmen's Compensation Compen-sation Law. Special to The Tribune. BOISB, Idaho, Nov. 23. The first application ap-plication for state insurance under the new workmen's compensation law in Idaho has been tiled by Governor Alexander, Alexan-der, insuring the M. Alexander company against loss from injury to employees of the company. Policy No. 1 will be issued is-sued to the chief executive. Applications for insurance are now cominir in rapidly. State Insurance Manager Man-ager Broxon reports. There seems to be a difference of opinion among surety companies as to what effect the construction con-struction placed on the insurance clause of the law has on them in the matter of writing compensation Insurance. Attorney General T. A. Walters has given an opinion construing the meaning and intent of the act with reference to the liability of employers to insure their employees against accident. In it he holds that the compensation act mentions men-tions three classes of security, namely, insurance In the state fund, guaranty contracts and surety bonds. This construction placed on the law will, it is said, force large operators who employ many men to carry state insurance, insur-ance, and will not give them the option to carry their own Insurance which they had planned. |
