Show PURPOSE OF MISSION. Colonel K. M. House, General Bliss, Admiral Benson and tho other members of the American mission have arrived in Paris for the interallied conferences. confer-ences. Colonel House will be the central cen-tral figure so far as the United States is concerned, with General Bliss and Admiral Benson as his technical advisers. advis-ers. Tho other members of the mission will be in consultation on the questions ques-tions of food, shipping, blockade, munitions muni-tions and ti nance. When the conferences confer-ences end we may be sure that plans will have been made to exert the full strength of all the allied powers against tho Teutonic empires and Turkey . -and Bulgaria. Some time has elapsed since the United States declared war, but great progress has been made in alk directions. We have hundreds of thousands ox soldiers sol-diers ready for the trip across the Atlantic At-lantic and wc have a good-sized army already on the groundr We are conserving conserv-ing our food and fuel and all classes of patriotic eitir.ens, rich and poor alike, are giving freely of their means in order that nothing may be lacking for tho comfort and welfare of our soldiers and sailors. The wives and mothers, sisters and sweethearts arc right nobly performing their part and thousands of devoted nurses have already al-ready volunteered for service in the hospitals hos-pitals at the front. All that remains is for the nations engaged in the war against autocracy to co-ordinate their resources and efforts and prepare for a concerted drive before which the enemies en-emies of our Christian civilization will melt away. It is for this purpose that the mission headed by Colonel House visited England and then went on to Paris. Success to their efforts. |
