Show RAILWAY PROBERS ARE COMING WEST WASHINGTON", Oct. 2. The joint congressional con-gressional committee headed by Senator Newlands, created to consider transportation transporta-tion problems, plans to hold hearings in Pacific coast cities within a week after adjournment of congress. Senator Newlands said today that special spe-cial effort would be made to obtain views of public officials, railroad representatives representa-tives and others on the subject of the proper division of railroad control between state and federal government. Other hearings may be held in the middle west. Representative Adamson, a member of the committee, discussed wl th President Wilson today the modification caused by the war in the committee's original purpose pur-pose to conduct an intensive inquiry into all phases of transportation problems. The work Is now regarded as valuable mainly for action after the war. |
