Show RED CROSS CALL IS ISSUED BY DAVISON Cliainnau of Society's War Council Makes Stirring Appeal for Members. WASHINGTON. Dec. 16. On the eve of the great Christmas membership campaign cam-paign of the American Red Cross, beginning be-ginning tomorrow, Henry P. Davison, chairman of the society's war council, issued is-sued this call: "To the five million members working loyally with us today stand, by the colors! "To the ten or fifteen million members who will, join us before Christmas eve fall in! "Today the. American Red Cross is one of the modern miracles," he said. "It has mobilized America for action in the world j emergency. It works with President Wil-l Wil-l son's approval in the task of preparing our people for mutual service to those among us who may suffer because of changes which the war has brought. In Belgium, Fra nee. Italy, Russia, Rumania, Armenia, Serbia, tbe American flag of the Red Cross is the symbol of its kindly hand. "I believe we shall obtain a membership member-ship of twenty millions, in which all social so-cial lines are flung to the winds, and an organization representative of the entire en-tire people will be created." |
