Grading Grad-ing of every man iu tho Narrows camp wft3 benn today to dctermino the selection se-lection of the entire contingent of non-commissioned non-commissioned officers to be established at the muster iu of the Utah liht field artillery on August 5, when tho guard is drawn into federal porioe. Each camp member is being graded ao-cording ao-cording to his progress iu the artillery instruction, the results of his -yeekly . examinations, his interest taken in tho 1 work here and his eonduct about the camp. The selections will be determined deter-mined by the officers at the completion of the camp. At present there are 147 privates attending at-tending the camp, who will likelv ba promoted to become non-commissioned officers. To decide tho selection of these men according to their efficiencv-in efficiencv-in the artillery work close watching la necessary by the officers who mako the reports. In addition, there are eighty -one non-commissioned officers who will likely be promoted to I'nor ranks when the results cf the grading nre announced. This system calls forth 1 the best efforts of the men, who are i taking advantage of every possible op- ! portunity of Btudy in order to equip themselves for place with th noncommissioned non-commissioned staff. Inspection Postponed. Inspection of the artillory c&mp which was scheduled for this morning " by Colonel John C. Waterman, has been postponed until Monday, when . the men will undorgo their final in- , spection. The report of Colonel "Water- ' man to the war department will decide de-cide whether or not the Utah artillory will be recoguizod aa eligiblo for federal fed-eral service. The inspections of tho men at the home stations have already 1 been completed and the inspection here will complete tho report. Tho ros ters will be gone over and eacn man will bo checked as present nt tho camp. Officers of the instruction camp were pleased yesterday to find that the five men who have been absent from the camp without leave since Sunday niht have all returned on their own accord. No search was being made for these men, due to the fact that they would be dropped from the rolls as deserters when ten days had paasod i-from i-from the time of the failure to appenfr' Their appearance nt the camp this morning eli mi nates them from the do-sertion do-sertion charges. Thry are now con-fined con-fined to their quarters and will bo 0 couvtmartialed on a charge of being absent, from tho instruction camp without with-out leave.
