Show PREPARE 10 HEAR EXMN f LEAS Boards for City and County . Awaiting Lists to Come From Washington. Special to The Tribune. OGDEX, July 21. In the event that there 13 no delay in the receipt of the official numbers drawn in Washington yesterday, the Ogden and Weber county exemptions boards will be in a position to receive the first registrants for ex'-amination ex'-amination within the next ten days, according ac-cording to Deputy Sheriff . W. H. Low-.idcr, Low-.idcr, chairman of" the Weber county board. The county board has been fully organized and will have its headquarters Jifthe jury room ou the third floor of "ine county building. ' . Should the official list of numbers, as drawn, be received next Monday or Tuesday, Mr. Lowder says his board will send out the first apportionment of notices at once and be in a position to examine those who respond within the five-day period provided in the regulations. reg-ulations. The instructions are that no one physician employed by an exemptions exemp-tions board is permitted to examine more than eighty registrants in a single day, but Mr. Lowder considers that this -i virtually impossible. ITe believes that his board will attempt to dispose of about thirty registrants each day and it is probable that notices will be sent out with this plan in view. Notice of a change in the original plan was received by the local boards today. Instead of operating under supervision su-pervision of the irovost general at Washington the boards will be accountable account-able to the adjutant general of the state. New lists of' the registrants with the serial numbers applied have just been forwarded to Major W. G. Williams at Salt Lake. Both local boards have received a huge mass of supplies for carrying ou tho exemptions work. About the only thing which seems to be lacking, according ac-cording to Mr. Lowder, are stamped or government envelopes for sending out notices to registrants to appear before the board. Tho supplies include official of-ficial notices to registrants and blanks for every form of exemption that can be claimed by a registered person. - There is one blank for the man who -is a government employee, another for the registrant who claims exemption on account of a wife and children and so on down the list. Owing to errors in the transmission of the numbers by telegraph and also to additional errors in segregating names ,,rnm the list of registrants, numerous "mistakes have been found in the first w lists of drafted men as reported in the newspapers. As a result of this many -5J:ho feel certain of not being called for t iVv first army quota may receive the official notice within the next week or ten days and others who consider themselves them-selves drawn will find themselves on the waiting list" for the second call. |
