Show SCHOOL PUPILS TO OBSERVE BIRD DAY Exercises Will Be Held at Sea Gull Monument in the Temple Grounds This Afternoon at 3 o'clock. Hundreds of school children will take part in the Utah Bird Day exercises this afternoon at 3 o'clock around the Sea (iull monument iu the Templo grounds. The exercises will be under the auspices of the Burroughs Nature Study association associa-tion of Utah. Students of the L. D. S. high school will be the hosts of tho occasion oc-casion and the children of the Salt Lake public schools will be tho guests A notable no-table feature of the observance will lie the singing of "America" and other selections try the combined classes of children. Mrs. Emmeline B. Wells will address the pupils on the "History of tho Sea Gulls,' and addresses on the importance of bird life and need of protection of the feathered folk will be made by President Guy 0. Wilson of the L. D. S. U. and D. H. Christensen, citv superintendent super-intendent of public schools. A proclamation procla-mation prepared last year by Governor Spry for tho dedication of bird sanctuaries sanctu-aries throughout the city will be read by Miss Dorothy Mills. Dr. C. G Plnmmer, president of the Burroughs Nature Study club, will also talk regarding re-garding the protection of birds The music will he under the direction of Hugh W. Dougall. |
