Show 7 H MRS. MARIE A. VAN OR-DEN OR-DEN PECK, who died at a local hospital yesterday. HANDCART PIONEER " WMJE HERE Mrs. Marie A. Van Orden Peck Succumbs to Injuries From Fall. Mrs. Marie A. Van Orden Peck, 77 years of age, a member of the pecond handcart company of pioneers, and for many yea.rs prominent and active in Mor mon church work, died yesterday noon at a local ho'spltal. The body was embalmed em-balmed and removed to the residence of her daughter. Mrs. Nettle Hanson. 64 West Seventh South street. Funeral services ser-vices will be held Wednesday morning at 9:45 o'clock In the Seventeenth ward Chapel, and at 11:30 the body will be taken to Provo for interment. The casket will be open at the daughter's residence here Tuesday from 3 until 9 o'clock. Mrs. Peck was born in Marion, N. Y., and came to Utah with her parents at the age of 9 years. When 17 vears of age she married ICdwln M. Peck, a member of the prominent pioneer family of the Seventeenth ward. Mr. Peck died about fifteen years ago and was burled in Provo, he being at that time engaged in business there. One son and five daughters survive. They are Edwin M. Peck, Kamaa, Idaho; Mrs. Julia Fowler, Goshen; Mrs. Nettie Hanson, Salt Lake; Mrs. Edith Jenkins. Alhambra, Cal.; Mrs. Nina Flfleld, Fair-view, Fair-view, Idaho; Mrs. Charlotte M. Wool-ston. Wool-ston. Salt Lake. Mrs. Peck died from injuries received three weeks ago at the residence of her daughter, wlipn she slipped and fell shortly short-ly after she had returned from a visit to Provo. She had ever been a devout member mem-ber of the Mormon church and was noted for her activity In Relief socictv work. |
