The bulk of the subscriptions sub-scriptions was subscribed today in small, amounts, principally bonds for 'd and $IH0. The OK'len State bank alone addod 300 names to iln nunibor of i-ubscribers and probably will lead the seven banks of this city, with a total of aVoximately InuO subscribers. The Fir National bank probably will hold second place. Subscribers who waited until the last day of the drive to purchase a bond began be-gan arriving at the banks early this morning and by noon lout? lines of men, women and children were waiting to sign subscription blanks. At noon the banks suspended all business except that of taking- Liberty loan subscriptions, every institution in-stitution remaining open this evening until un-til the last patron had signed for a bond. Because of this condition the banks found it almost impossible to furnish a detailed report tonight. At a late hour tonight the committee was also without a report from the four other counties of the northern district. The telephone wire was reported to be out of commission to Randolph, so that a report from Hlch county may not be had for several clays. In checking over the results among the farmers of Vebor county it was found today to-day that virtually every district had responded re-sponded in a most patriotic manner. In the Eden district of Offden valley cvery family in the district purchased a bond. David Hancock, chairman of the West Weber committee, reported that In fifty-four fifty-four calls among the farmers of his district dis-trict he had received but three refusals to buy a bond. |
