Show LITTLE BO! OKI IW CITY RESERVOIR I m ! Father Dives Frequently in Effort to Bring1 Son to the Surface. Edwin H. Glade, 4 years of age, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Glade, 327 C street, ! was drowned yesterday afternoon In the ! reservoir about five miles up City Creek I canyon. The body was recovered at 4:45 j J o'clock yesterday afternoon by the Salt i Lake police and is at the chapel of S. M. j Taylor & Co., undertakers, pending funeral fu-neral arrangements. Mr. Glade, who is a clerk In the grocery department of the Z. C. M. I., was walking walk-ing with his little son aluig the edge of the reservoir, which is protected, accord- j ing to the statements of the officers, by ; a railing that is less than two feet high. The child, while near the lower end of! the reservoir, leaned over the railing and i fell into the water at a point near the j outlet, where the water .was something like twenty feet deep, and the suction 1 strong. i Mr. Glade, leaped In and dived several ; times In a futile effort to rescue his son. I He then notified the police department, being compelled to run to the city hc-I hc-I cause he could find no telephone In the vicinity. The police department received I the call at 4:2o o'clock yenterdav after- i noon. Officers Payne, Moore, Wire, St. : i John, Larson and Lanye responded. ! |
