Show ENDEAVOR TO OBTAIN MORE SCHOOL FUNDS Special to Tiie Tribune. PKOArO, Aug. 16. A movement to secure se-cure changes in the revenue law which will provide sufficient funds to maintain main-tain a full four-year high school course as. a part of the Provo City public school system, and that of other cities similarly situated, has been started by Provo Democrats and was made the subject sub-ject of a resolution at the First ward Democratic primary. The matter will be taken up with the state convention Friday, and if no favorable platform provision is secured it will be broached at the county convention to be held at Spanish For li, September 21. Under the present law the board of education is unable to collect sufficient revenue to do more than maintain the grades and two years of high school, j The advocates of a complete high school course, who are the majority of the citizens, citi-zens, favor increased taxing powers for school purposes or, preferably, a different differ-ent and more equitable (as claimed) distribution dis-tribution of the school tax funds received re-ceived from corporations. A bill pro-viding pro-viding for the descrihed amendments to the revenue law will be presented to tho next legislature. |
