Show GENERAL RUZSKY AGAIN COMMANDS NORTHERN ARMY PETROGRAD, via London, Aug. 17, 3:11 a. m. General Nicholas V. Ruzsky has been appointed commander in -chief of the northern armies of Russia. i General Ruzsky was in command of the northern Russian army at the outbreak of the war. He was credited with the series of brilliant operations which culminated cul-minated in the capture of Lembcrg and was hailed as the hero of the hour in Russia. Shortly afterward , it was announced an-nounced that he was in ill health, and in 1 May, 1015, he retired from the army and wns succeeded by General Alexiev, the present chief of s t a f f . Tn July. 1015. General Ruzsky resumed command of the northern armies, but six months later was relieved from his post by the emperor. A n imperial rescript re-script said that the difficult task of defending de-fending Petrograd had serlouslv Injured the general's health. General Ruzsky is 6'2 years old. He was wounded in the Turkish war of 1S77-7S and was quartermaster quarter-master general during the Russian-Japanese war. |
