Show DEMOCRATS OF STATE i DISCUSS GIMPJIIGHi Enthusiastic Meeting of; Committees Is Held at Headquarters. VICTORY IS PREDICTED Plans for Work in the Various Vari-ous Counties Are Outlined Out-lined by Leaders. Utah Democrats made the first concerted con-certed move of the campaign last night when a meeting of all the campaign committees com-mittees was held at state headquarters in the jSewhouse hotel, tttate Chairman Mathonihuh Thomas gave a roport o what had been done ty the stale committee com-mittee and outlined plans for tho campaign cam-paign and both were enthusiastically approved, lirief but enthusiastic talks a iso were made by W. W. Armstrong, John Dern, .Samuel Russell, S. A. King, Kobert N. Bask in, Karl J. Glade and U. i tl. L'arlquist of Salt Lake; C. C Rich- I aids and Ji. H. Henderson of Ogden: Judge Josua Greenwood of !Nephi, and M, tl. Welling of Fielding. All judicial and congressional districts were represented at the meeting and the most of the state, judicial and congressional congres-sional candidates were present. Light counties sent representatives and reports re-ports to the meeting and all predicted uniform success ot the Democratic ticket. The counties represented were Salt Lake, Weber, Box Elder, Davis, Utah, Carbon, Sanpete and Juab. To Open Campaign. Steps for a vigorous campaign throughout the state will be taken immediately. im-mediately. State Chairman Mathonihah Thomas reported that all his personal business would be cleaned up by the end of the week and thereafter he expected to devote his entire time to the campaign. cam-paign. The state committee is urging all county committees to hold their conventions con-ventions at the earliest possible date with a view to getting the tickets before be-fore the people early in the campaign. ! As a result of the urging on the part of J the state committee Weber county has i arranged to hold its convention September Septem-ber 2, Utah county September 8 and Sanpete county September 9. The organization of Woodrow Wilson clubs is to he taken up vigorously within with-in the coming week, and during September Septem-ber it is proposed to establish clubs in thirty of the larger cities of the state. Tho women's Democratic committee also will begin operations throughout the state next week also with a view to establishing at least thirty women's clubs in various towns of the state. Organizing Clubs. Lohi already has organized an enthusiastic. enthus-iastic. Woodrow Wilson club and preliminary prelim-inary steps toward perfecting a similar organization were taken last night at American Fork. John Kennedy of Randolph and county Democratic chairman of Rich county, and Aquila Kebeker, United States marshal!, brought enthusiastic reports of Democratic activities in the northern part of the state to state headquarters yesterday. Similar reports arrived from Tooele. Juab and Millard counties while the state and county leaders do not so much as give the O. O. P. a chance in their estimates of the results iu Salt Lake and Weber. Telephone calls to state Democratic headquarters in the Newhouso building have become so heavy that they can not be cared for by the house service. Two ! trunk lines have been installed into the headquarters to care for the overflow conversation. The numbers of the trunk lines are Wasatch 2367 and 8023. |
