Show METALS PRODUCTION IN UTAH INCREASES United States Geological Survey Makes Eeport on Output Which Is Highly Encouraging. WASHINGTON, July 5. Reports received re-ceived by the United States geological survey from 'the Utah mines indicate that no great increase in gold may be expected in that state for 1916. but silver production, produc-tion, which Is dependent largely on the production of lead, has gained over previous previ-ous years. The lead output from ores produced at the Bingham camp will exceed ex-ceed all former totals. At the present rate of output, fully 225,000.000 pounds of copper will be produced pro-duced in 1916. this estimate having "been made from the increased tonnage being treated at the concentration mills near Garfield. Zinc production from sulphide concentrates concen-trates and oxidized and sulphide ores will not largely exceed tlie 1915 output of 22,-O0O-, 000 pounds. The high prices of metals during the last six months caused Utah producers to put all available miners to work getting out ore. In some of the snowbound camps large quantities of ore were stored during the winter months and when this was released re-leased to the buy ere a curtailment was requested by the smelters of all producers exceeding contract limits. |
