Show RUSSIAN FORCES IN PERSIA MEET WITH A SETBACK AMSTERDAM, July 5. via London, 8:11 p. m. Kermnnshah, In western Persia, has been evacuated by the Russians and occupied by the Turks, according to a Constantinople dispatch received here today to-day by way of Vienna. The message states that after a fierce battle west of Kermanshah, on June 30, the Russians retreated, and, being unable to maintain themselves in that city, abandoned It to the Turks, who occupied, It on July 1. The war office today i made public the following: In south Persia, on June 28, tho Russians retreated from Koserevabad, fleeing tn the direction of Mahidecht. A strong rear guard which had remained re-mained In Harunabad fled on June 29 before our advanced guards, retreating retreat-ing in tho direction of their main forces. On the Caucasian front our left wing is fortifying the positions captured cap-tured north of the Tchoruk river. Attacks At-tacks of the enemy in this sector failed. |
