Show MINERAL SURVEYS SHOWING INCREASE Steady increase in the volume of work in the mineral branch of the office of the United States surveyor general lias resulted in the necessity of increasing the clerical force of that department. Accordingly, Miss Grace Nelson, draftsman; drafts-man; Miss Mary S. Burton, stenographer, stenogra-pher, and Joseph Heirsehvogel, draftsman, drafts-man, have been transferred from the agricultural' ag-ricultural' branch of the office, according accord-ing to I. C. Thoreseu, surveyor general. gen-eral. For the past two years, the work of the mineral branch of the office has been taken care of principally by A. G. Andrews, chief in charge of the branch. Recent demands for numerous mineral surveys have made it imperative, however, how-ever, that he have sufficient office force to keep up with the field work being done. Surveyor General Thoresen says that the increase in the call for mineral surveys has been phenomenal during the summer months. |
