Show Lumber Ship Sunk. SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 3. The British ship William T. Lewis,' owned by Hind, Rolph & Co. of San Francisco, was fired on and is thought to have been sunk today off1 Queenstown by a submarine, according to a message received re-ceived here by the marine department of the chamber of commerce. She sailed from Everett. Wash., March 29, for Sheerness, England, with a cargo of lumber. Captain Manning and the crew of thirty abandoned the ship and the vessel was "believed to have sunk. The entire crew was picked up by the Danish motor ship Australia. |
