Confer-ence? now in progress between Great Britain and France over the general subject of trade out of neutral Kuro pean ports, are expected to result in a definite announcement of conditions under un-der which Great Britain will authorize relaxations of its orders in council to permit the shipment of German or Aus-trian-inade eoods to the I'nited States. A statement issued tonight by the state department revealed that Embassador Embas-sador Page at London has been informed in-formed of these conferences, and told that an answer might be expected at a later date to his informal inquiry as to what treatment would be accorded applications, for shipment permits made through the department's foreign trade advisers as unofficial representatives of Americans owning millions of dollars' dol-lars' worth of merchandise now held up at Rotterdam. |
