Richey, general manager of the "Lnited Home Builders company in ref erence to toe c tj s action in eho ng Inclination to condemn part of this p op erty sa d that he was unable to see wherein the company s plans wou d in any way conflict with the citj s parking p an for City Creek canyon and is of the op n on that when the detai s of the propos tion are more ful y unde stood It would be seen that the company s pans would not only work in harmony w th the city s plans but would he p carry out the general policy of beautify ng the canyon for t use and p easure of the taxpayers and in no wa endanger the pur ty of the water supply Mr Richey was asked for a statement of the companj s intentions in connec t on with the matter of subdiv d ng and p atting its tract of land in City Creek canyon and said I consider our company fortunate in securing the exclusive sales ri0ht on 319 acres of cho ce land just two and a half miles fron he cit hav ng co rap eted arrangements for sell ng this property for a company of busi ness men who recent y purchased the acreage from former owners who have had title to the ground for twenty jea s or more It astonis es most e erjbody to whom these lots are offered for sa e because the general impress on. has been that all the canyon property is owned by the city and therefore not open for settlement This property known as Pleasant alley fs only two and a half miles from the Eagle gate and is no doubt the prettiest part of the canyon, com pris ng some good springs on parts of the ground that lie high up from the creek offering especial y attract ive advantages for summer cottage sites, by reason of beautiful fo lage and other natural seen c ad antages It will be the pol cy of our company to- co operate with the city in carry lng out the general plan of beautl fylng the canyon and in every way making sanitary cond tions conform to all the requirements of city regu lat ons We have consulted expert opinion along these lines and it has been our lnformat on that perfect san tary conditions con-ditions can be ma ntained without the slightest danger of pollut ng the water supply As the city takes out prac ticaUy all of its water supp y from, the two high 1 ne Intakes whicl are above our property it s apparent that danger of contaminating the wa ter Is decidedly remote Canyons adjacent to other cities are be ng mpro ed for the use and recreation of citizens who live nea by and It is remarkable that a property prop-erty such as ours has not been put on the market many years ago, when you consider how close it is to the city and the wonderful natural at tractions it has for canyon residence property It is not unreasonab e to think, that in the not far d stant fu ture permanent homes will be built there We are going to put a reasonable building restriction on this property and when one considers that the property is not as far from the cen ter of the citv as most of the pres ent citv subdivisions we cannot he p but be eve that it w 1 prove the most popu ar subdlvis on that has been offered to the Dublic Our surveyors are busy securing an acc rate surve of he prope t and with n a few days the nea w be estab shed so we an e takes and beg n to sell o s and take prope care of the inqu es ha a e a readv come into the office some of wh ch are from prom nent bus ness an 1 profess onal men On account of a contract which was made with former Mayor B apsford with the orig rial owners of the prop erty we w 1 be able to guarantee to our cl ents water conect ons with the new city h gh ine water supply for the purpose of ser "Jng homes that will be bu t on our property |
