Show EMMA COPPER CO. IKESH STRIKE Ships Carload of Ore to Sampler; Mine Condi-tions Condi-tions Favorable Development work in the Emma Cop per property located in the Little Cot tonwood district has during the past week, opened up an entirely unexpect ed ore body In making the connec tion from the lead stope to the ra se that is being driven from the IS o 2 east drift a body of high grade lead ore was encountered sixteen inches m width. It extends across the face of the breast It is of the same character as the carload lot sh pped recently The shipment sent out has now reached the sampler an is expected to be settled for n the com ng week The ore cont nues m both ends of the face and is radicati e of the highly mineralized character of the whole area n which the t ork is now be ng car ried on As soon as the connection is made with the ra se the open ng out of this ground will be greatly facili tated as the broken mater al of the mining operat ons will be more easily disposed of which will perm t of at tacking the ore exposure at several places at the same time In the course of the next daj or so it is expected that a connect on will be made The opinion of all those who have examined th s exposure in the Emma Copper is that there are very Btrong probabilities of opening up an ore body of consid erable magnitude The whole rock for mation is intersected and traversed by streaks of ore, giving the appearance of the working being on the edge of the ore body On the tunnel level a crosscut is be ing put up to the north with a view to prospecting the format on of the tun nel level on the upper s de of the fault plane along wh ch the lead ore has been encountered This fault is an lm portant one whioh has been traced all the way from the old Emma to the Co lumbna Consolidated. In the Emma Cop ?er itself it has been intersected at hree points widely separated and at two or them ore has been encountered At the place where the crosscut is being be-ing started considerable water is issu ing from the rock, which in the Al ta district is taken as a favorable s gn of the proximity of an ore body Later On it is planned to put out other crosscuts cross-cuts through th s formation in other parts of the mine Active mining operations are being earned on on the brecciated vein in the lo 1 east drift as it is expected that by the end of this week sufficient ore will have been accumulated on the dump to enable a shipment of a car load lot being made to the smelter The ore that is be ng mined at the present time is not the high grade but the object of the work is to explore the ground in the hope that a richer bed will be met with such as has been opened np in the South Hecla mine At the latter property regular shipments are mow being made of ore which is netting in the neighborhood of $40 per ton : Boston Copper Quotations.
