Show BULLET ENDS LIFE OFElilill Mrs. William Allen Found Dead; Husband Tells .tj of Kiss. Special to The Tribune. EUREKA, Sept. 20. Mrs. William Allen, 23 years of age, was found dead in her bedroom shortly after 6 o'clock yesterday yester-day morning. Her husband notified the neighbors of her death, saying she had shot fierself after a family quarrel. J. A. Allen, city marshal, was summoned. Until his arrival the husband permitted no one to enter the house. Nf. A. Peterson, coroner, has decided to hold an inquest. According to the storv of Allen, the hns-band'. hns-band'. he and Mrs. Allen had a slight dls- agreement early Sunday morning. Each finally retired to separate rooms. A few ! minutes before 6 o'clock, according to . Allen, his wife entered his room and, re- j marking that she intended leaving him, asked if he wished to kiss her. He asserted he embraced her, that she left the room and that a few seconds later he heard a shot and hastened to, her 100m, to find her lying on the bed, dead. Allen says an automatic pistol lay beside be-side her, and that she waa bleeding from a wound In the left breast. C. A. Allen, city marshal, speaking of the case, said the bullet penetrated the woman's body and lodged in the wall behind be-hind her. He asserts ahe was in a nignt-dress nignt-dress and that both her clothing and the flesh about the wound were burned and stained with powder. The weapon which ended Mrs. Allen's life is one which, according to the husband, hus-band, has been in the Allen home about two years. Allen asserts he did not know it was in his wife's possession. According to the neighbors, the Aliens have lived in apparent happiness since their marriage in 1910. , They were believed be-lieved to be in comfortable financial circumstances cir-cumstances and no reason has been advanced ad-vanced that might cause the wife to take her life. Before her marriage Mrs. Alien was Florence Curtis! Her mother, Mrs. William Wil-liam Bridges, lives in Eureka. Both husband hus-band and wife have a great many re'a-tives re'a-tives here in Eureka and also at Spring-ville, Spring-ville, which is the former home of Allen. |
