Show PLUMBERS' CASE MAY BE ENDED THIS WEEK Iowa Men Principal Witnesses for the Defense at Monday's Hearing. j DES MOINES, Feb. 22. Iowa men ! held principal atrontion among: the wit-; nesses for the defense in the tiial ol the thirty-six master plumbers in the federal court here today. The plumbers are charged with having violated the Sherman law. Indications this afternoon after-noon were that the case probably would be concluded by Thursday of this week, and there was some talk that the defense de-fense mipht rest tomorrow. J. D. Blake, a supply dealer of Rock Island, 111., admitted, under cross-ex amination, that he had induced plumb- ers to join the association in order that his house might sell to them. He j said he had always sent "conspicuous tas" out when shipping to uoumem-hers. uoumem-hers. "If we bad been trying to disguise anything," said Blake, "wo would have sent blank tags, as is frequently the case. " "Oh, then it is frequently the case for the houses to send out blank tags'?'5 asked District Attorney Porter. "Yes," said Blake. Llovd Tilson of Boone, Ta.. testified that he had received "white slips' or complaints, from the Iowa association associa-tion secretary, but that he had never been influenced bv them. K. H. Porter of Knoxville. ta., gave testimony i similar to that of Tilson. |
