Show BIRTHS IN THE CITY EXCEED THE DEATHS The weekly report of the city board j of health shows 51 births and 26 j deaths. Of the births, 28 were boys and 23 girls; of the deaths, 14 -were males and 12 were females. 1 A total of 27 cases of contagious and ' infectious diseases were reported, in- j . duding the following: typhoid fover, J ! 1; mumps, 1; scarlet fover, 11; measles, 2; whooping cough, 4; chicken pox, 4. ; I The report of the schools' nurses for Tanuary shows that 95,000 inspections 1 were made among the children and i 3459 were given personal examination; ! 12 children were excluded from the schools and 5S were referred to tho med- ical inspectors. Surgical and medical j treatment was obtained for 46 children t found to be suffering from adenoids, enlarged tonsils, defective vision and ! other ailments. |
