From letters received from friends of Idaho Falls parlies vrho are In Lander. Wyo., It Is loarned that thero Is great activity on the part of tho Northwestern Railroad company In that seclion, and the talk there Is that tho road will bo pushed to Idaho Falls during the coming season as rapidly as possible. It was stated a short time ago that surveyors of that company had discovered a pass through tho mountains that would glvo them un easy grade, something fhoy had been looking for for somo time. In giving the probablo route of the Northwestern, the person writing from Lander says: "The best route Is to go from Lander northwest about eighty miles to South Pass, from which place they have a straight line to the big bend of Green rivor, where thoy can cross tho South Pass mountains and come down Salt river Into Star valley and follow tho Snako river to Idaho Falls. It Is said that arrangements have Just been completed com-pleted for the sale of 125,000,000 feet of timber In western Wyoming, near the head of Wind river, to tho Wind River Tlmbor company of Itlverton, Wyo., and that tho Northwestern company Is building build-ing an Immense creosote plant at that place for tho treatment of railroad tics." |
